The Pink Rhino Club is a modern speakeasy designed by Andrea Schumacher Interiors for the landmark 50th Anniversary Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York. A celebration of memory, heritage, and global influence, this immersive space was inspired by Andrea’s childhood in Nigeria and her enduring love for the artistry of Morocco.
At the foundation of the room is “Guli Mask”, a striking wallcovering from Andrea’s upcoming wallpaper collection with The Vale London. The pattern originates from original artwork by her grandmother, Elizabeth Monath, a student of Fernand Léger whose career as an artist spanned continents. The drawing was created during Monath’s visit to Andrea’s childhood home in Ibadan, Nigeria, and it remains a deeply personal reminder of her global upbringing and creative legacy.
The room itself unfolds as a layered narrative of craftsmanship, texture, and history. Moroccan arches frame cozy niches, patterned surfaces create rhythm and depth, and playful juxtapositions invite exploration. At the center of the design is a whimsical rhinoceros-shaped bar—a sculptural anchor that infuses humor, sophistication, and character into the speakeasy concept. This focal point embodies Andrea’s signature approach: blending untamed luxury with a touch of the unexpected.
From custom furnishings and artisanal finishes to curated lighting and global accents, every detail is considered to create a mood both transportive and intimate. The Pink Rhino Club is more than a show house room—it is a celebration of travel, memory, and discovery, offering guests an invitation into Andrea’s world of bold imagination and soulful design.
