As I sit down to reflect on one of our latest projects captured by acclaimed photographer Roger Davies, I can’t help but feel excitement, pride and gratitude for my team and all of the hard work it takes to get here. This particular project holds a special place in my heart, as it embodies the essence our bold, vibrant and fearless design process.
Roger Davies, a British-born, Los Angeles–based photographer, has carved a remarkable path in the world of photography. From developing prints in a laundry room to capturing the homes of Hollywood stars, his journey is a testament to his unparalleled talent and dedication to his craft. Working with Roger always means one thing: magic is going to unfold.
The Denver home we were photographing boasts a show-stopping entryway, showcasing Fine Paints of Europe blue lacquer that exudes a playful elegance. Downstairs, my collaboration with Hamilton Sinkler resulted in custom hardware that adds a unique touch of luxury to every corner of the bar.
The music room, with its grand piano and wallpaper paying homage to a famous Hunt Slonem painting, is a harmonious blend of art and music that speaks to the soul. One of the highlights of the space is the signed large framed photograph of the Rolling Stones album cover shoot “The Beggar’s Banquet” captured by the renowned photographer Michael Josephs. This iconic piece added the perfect finishing touch to an interior space meant to entertain and inspire.
Styling for a photoshoot is an art form in itself, often overlooked by those who admire the final images. Most don’t realize that there is another layer to the home when it’s being photographed – every detail must be meticulously curated to create a visual narrative that captivates the story of the interior space. In the days leading up to the shoot, I worked closely with my amazing Creative Director Troy Rivington and stylist Tawney Waldo to ensure that every element was in place to achieve the perfect shot.
The whole Colorado interior design photoshoot experience was made even more special by a visit from my son Calvin Schumacher to the set. As we captured exclusive behind-the-scenes content for my social media accounts, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to share these moments with my family. There’s no better way to end a whirlwind week of shooting interiors than with the ones you love by your side.
In the world of interior design, every project tells a story – a story of creativity, passion, and vision. Through the lens of Roger Davies, this particular project comes to life in a way that transcends words, capturing the essence of vibrance and sophistication that defines Andrea Schumacher Interiors. I’m so proud of what we have achieved, and I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you soon. Stay tuned for the reveal of the final images – it’s a sight to behold.
Xoxo, AMS
